Rescue your Tile Grout like a Professional.

Unlike many grout paints and grout pens on the market, Grout Rescue is formulated as a true grout colour sealer, offering both aesthetic improvement and long-term protection with its pigmented polymer based formula.

Transforming Tile Grout Colours with Ease

Re grouting is messy, time intensive and expensive, with tile damage risk. A single Grout Rescue treatment can transform a room’s look—or even change the grout colour to update style—at a fraction of the cost. It’s perfect for homeowners who want a modern, refreshed finish without hiring contractors or replacing tiles.

  •

    1

Assess the tile grout for damage/defects. Repair any holes or cracks and allow to fully cure before using Grout Rescue. NOTE: The grout surface must be sound to achieve a watertight and long-life sealed finish.
  •

    2

For best results, treat the grout lines with Grout Rescue Pre-Treatment Cleaner. This micro-etches, decontaminates and cleans the grout, allowing for optimum bonding. AVOID getting the cleaner onto SENSITIVE SURFACES such as metal and fabric - clean off immediately with clean water.
  •

    3

IMPORTANT: Complete a test patch to determine coverage and ‘time to remove excess from tiles’ for your specific grout and tile finish. Matt tiles must have excess removed sooner than smooth, glazed tiles for example. DO NOT proceed to the full project until you have established your timescales.
  •

    4

Apply Grout Rescue using your preferred method; 100ml brush head, Applicator Kit or 237ml bottle with a small brush (toothbrush or small paintbrush). Apply slowly and evenly to the grout lines, working in small sections.
  •

    5

Removing excess sealer from tile edges; either do it as you apply with a damp cloth and thumb edge, or you can complete a section in full as per your test times, then remove all the excess with an emulsifying pad or similar. ONLY use a fine mist of water to help dislodge residues if needed.
  •

    6

Continue the process until the tile grout colour transformation is complete. DO NOT apply too thickly as it may cause blistering/cracking and the sealer may not bond correctly.
  •

    7

Touch dry within 2-3 hours. Allow 48hrs before wetting the grout (in showers, wet rooms etc) or using cleaning products on the colourised tile grout.

Product FAQs

Product Info

What is Grout Rescue and how does it work?

Grout Rescue is a specialist grout colour and seal system designed to restore and protect existing grout lines. It recolours discoloured or stained grout, seals it against moisture and dirt, and leaves a uniform, fresh finish — without the need to re-grout or replace tiles.

Can anyone use Grout Rescue, or do I need a professional?

You don’t need to be a tradesperson to achieve professional results. Grout Rescue products are designed to be simple enough for homeowners to use, while still delivering the high-quality finish professionals expect. With the right preparation and a little care, most people can complete the job themselves.

What surfaces and areas can Grout Rescue be used on?

Grout Rescue Colour & Seal is designed for indoor grout on tiled floors and walls — perfect for kitchens, bathrooms and hallways.

Grout Rescue X is the outdoor version, formulated for patios, paving, and external tiled areas. Both products should be applied only to the grout or pointing lines, not the surrounding tiles or slabs.

How long does Grout Rescue last?

When applied correctly, Grout Rescue provides up to 15 years of protection against staining, mould, and mildew. The sealed finish makes grout easier to clean and keeps it looking fresher for longer.

Do I need to clean the grout before applying Grout Rescue?

Yes. For best results, it’s important that grout joints are clean and completely dry before application. We recommend using our Grout Rescue Pre-Treatment Cleaner which micro-etches the grout as well as removing dirt, grease, and residues so that the colour sealer bonds properly and delivers a smooth, even finish.

Will Grout Rescue change the texture or height of my grout?

No. Grout Rescue is a thin, liquid-applied sealer that soaks into the grout surface, restoring colour and protection without building up thickness. The grout’s texture remains natural, with a clean and consistent appearance.

Can I change my grout colour completely?

Yes! Whether you want to go lighter, darker, or choose a completely new shade, Grout Rescue allows you to transform your grout colour with a single application. With 10 interior and 5 exterior shades available, it’s easy to create the look you want.

Is Grout Rescue a grout paint?

Grout Rescue is often searched for as grout paint, but it is actually a professional grout colour sealer. Unlike surface paints, it penetrates porous grout, permanently recolouring it while sealing against moisture, stains and dirt. This makes it longer lasting and more durable than traditional grout paints.

Is Grout Rescue better than a grout pen?

Yes. While grout pens are convenient, they
typically sit on the surface and wear away quickly, especially in bathrooms and
kitchens. Grout Rescue works as a grout colourant and sealer, bonding
with the grout itself to provide a more consistent finish and longer-lasting
protection.

What is the difference between the three Grout Rescue versions?

All three versions use the same professional grout colour sealer. The difference is the application format:

  • The 237ml bottle offers maximum flexibility and coverage.
  • The 100ml brush head bottle is designed for easier, tidier application on smaller areas.
  • The Applicator Kit includes specialist tools for faster, cleaner and more precise application on larger projects.

Which Grout Rescue format should I choose?

Choose based on the size of your project and how you prefer to apply:

  • Small areas or touch-ups: 100ml Brush Head Bottle
  • Medium to large areas with flexible application: 237ml Bottle
  • Large areas, floors, or faster professional results: Applicator Kit

Can Grout Rescue be used in bathrooms and showers?

Yes. Grout Rescue is ideal for bathrooms, showers and kitchens, where grout is exposed to moisture and frequent cleaning. Once cured, it helps seal grout joints and reduce future staining and mould growth.

Can I use Grout Rescue on floor grout?

Yes. Grout Rescue is suitable for both wall and floor grout. For larger floor areas, the Applicator Kit is often preferred due to its speed and precision.

Does Grout Rescue replace the need for re-grouting?

In most cases, yes. Grout Rescue is a cost-effective alternative to re-grouting when existing grout is intact but discoloured or stained. It restores appearance and seals grout without the mess, cost or disruption of removal and replacement. If your grout is damaged and full of holes, it cannot be treated unless you undertake some remedial repairs first.

Is Grout Rescue suitable for DIY use?

Yes. All Grout Rescue formats are designed for DIY application, with no specialist tools or professional experience required. Proper cleaning and preparation are essential to achieve the best results.

Will Grout Rescue seal grout as well as change the colour?

Yes. Grout Rescue is a combined grout colourant and sealer, meaning it both recolours grout and helps protect it from moisture, dirt and staining in one application process.

How long does Grout Rescue last compared to grout paint or pens?

When applied correctly, Grout Rescue lasts significantly longer than grout paints or pens because it penetrates and seals the grout rather than sitting on the surface. This makes it more resistant to wear, moisture and regular cleaning.
